Dayo Agu has spent his long shifter-life fighting wars that can't be won. Now, after retiring from his violent ways, he has settled happily into a bachelor life. Business and friends are all he and his animal need until she arrives. She is childish, silly, and not at all what he imagined for a mate but the more time he spends with her, the more he falls helplessly and madly in love. The only problem is she doesn't want anything to do with his human half.

Finding each other was the easy part. Letting go of the past and embracing the future will test them both in ways they never thought possible. Fate and destiny have convened on a small island off the Carolina coast and their worlds will never be the same.

Sigh. AI narration is just so bad.

Are publishers listening to what they’re producing? AI has weird (or no) inflections, a lack of emotion, lack of consistent punctuation - all leading to a story that is difficult to follow and even more difficult to listen to. The story may have seemed better if it were easier to listen to. I soldiered through this book but this is the end of my AI listening.
