This time, for Admiral Jake Grafton, the stakes are chillingly personal...

Admiral Jake Grafton takes his wife, Callie, along when the U.S. government sends him to Hong Kong to find out how deeply the American consul-general is embedded in political money raising scandal. And why not? Jake and Callie met and fell in love in Hong Kong during the Vietnam War, and the consul-general is a friend from those days.

The Graftons quickly discover, however, that Hong Kong is a powder keg ready to explode. A political muder and the closure of a foreign bank by the communist government are the sparks that light the fuse.

When Callie is kidnapped by a rebel faction, Jake finds himself drawn into the vortex of a high-tech civil war. To save his wife, he must figure out whom he can trust -- both among the Western factionsvying for control of the volatile situation, and amoung the Chinese patriots fighting for their nation's future -- and make sure the right side wins.

What did you like best about Hong Kong? What did you like least?

Love the characters, I've read the entire collection, the audio version makes it even better.

What other book might you compare Hong Kong to and why?

Cuba, because of the characters, and the story. I couldn't stop listening to it.

Would you be willing to try another one of Michael Prichard’s performances?

Not sure, I tried to listen to a Tom Clancy's read by him, and I had to stop. Too bad, it was one of my favorite book :(

Was Hong Kong worth the listening time?

The story is worth it, but the performance by the narrator is so bad, it is not worth listening to it. I switched to kindle version to finish the book.
It may be worth to suggest Brilliance audio or Audible to re-record a new version by Benjamin L. Darcie. It will be totally worth it!

Love the Jake Grafton series but was very disappointed in the narrator. Was listening in order and thought Ben Darcie was doing a fine job as narrator. Then I get to this book and the dude reading it has ruined the experience. Horrible monotone voice and even mispronounced a few words. Was really looking forward to finishing the series too. Bring back Mr. Darcie.

Horrible voice for a narrator

I put off downloading this one based on the description. Once I got into it I thought it was very imaginative. This is the kind of story that is truly fiction, but based on a possible reality. I thouroughly enjoyed and recommend it. If you like Coonts, you'll like this one.

Really liked it, worth the read.

I don't know why I like his story likes so much. I guess it might be in part the narrator. He really knows how to place you right into the story line. This book is good for a second listen just to ensure I didn't miss a word.

I love the Grafton series - but this particular story, when combined with a narrator who sounds like he just learned to read, was difficult to get through -

I’m a huge fan but ...
