With winter closing in, Texas cowboy Buck Tanner is fired for the season. When he confronts his no account boss for the last of his pay, a disagreement breaks out between the two men leading to a deadly outcome. Leaving town seems like Buck's best choice course of action and he sets out with his pal Luke to find a new opportunity. Unknowingly, they pair are being stalked by hired killers anxious to make sure Buck and Luke don't find out about the cattle rustling that has been plaguing the surrounding ranches.

Not to far away, Ira, a hand at the Circle JNB ranch has found something he doesn't like the look of...a burnt cinch ring and a discolored barb wire strand left near a campfire. It means only one thing, someone has been changing brands to cover up their rustling. But who is responsible? Ira aims to find out and there will be hell to pay when he gets his hands on the vermin.
