A DANGEROUS PRIZE

When Souma receives an invitation to a martial arts tournament, he has no plan to attend until he discovers two things: first, the grand prize is a single wish, and second, the daughter of his kingdom's former general will be participating. Her father was arrested as a traitor, and she has every reason to hate Souma and the Elfrieden Kingdom. Now, he'll have to discover her true intentions before she gains the power to start an all-out war.

First found this story originally through the anime. I found it captivating and unfortunately edited and short. I searched out and found this audio book series that fills in many of the missing parts and continuation beyond the anime. Would have been great to have a second season, but as they say...
The narration is very good with very good scene infliction.

The reader keeps misreading, what I'm guessing through context, marital as martial. It's just something that distracts me a bit from the story. Love the series anyway.

Escalating political tensions are always fun.

mio for the short time they explained her is a solid character. Plus who doesn't like a good brawl in a tournament fight.

Going into this novel I saw how short it was compared to the others. So I guess I assumed it would be mainly side stories. But boy was I wrong. I preferred this one over most of the others because it didn’t beat around the bush on most topics and got straight to the point. I can’t wait for the next addition.

A Short But Important Novel

honestly I've been disappointed in the meeting that there'd be more drama more romance between the king and the empress but not bad. also I think it would have been better if after she wanted the tournament she became Queen and then became like a vassal state for the kingdom
