Now, he has to work to pay back that loan despite charging lower prices to guild members, inventing new cures, and trying to catch the attention of the fetching waitress at the tavern—all while continuing forbidden research into a dangerous plague.

This story includes cozy, slice-of-life adventures, slow-burn romance, mouthwatering descriptions of food, lots of alchemical shenanigans, plenty of humor, and, of course, a happily ever after. Although this is technically the second story in the series, they can be listened to in any order.

Fun Fantasy

The story moved. Even though magic is involved, the characters have relatable lives. Us non-magic humans can relate to the issues.

A fun point of view switch

I bought the first book on a whim because it was in a two for one sale. I quickly devoured this fun series that proves the stakes don’t have to be high to be engaging. It’s always a risk to change POV in a series, but I think this series does it well. I hope these characters aren’t limited to a trilogy.
