Listen to this controversial, previously banned book that Howard Stern calls "required reading" for any man (or woman) even considering divorce! Newly revised and updated.

Unlike other divorce books, this one preaches no stay-together sermons and offers no sugarcoated, politically correct guidance. How to Dump Your Wife: Practical Advice for the Good Man Trapped in a Bad Marriage is about knowing that sometimes a marriage is simply beyond saving, regardless of whether a desperate or vengeful wife can accept the fact. Irreverent, funny, and brutally honest, Lee Covington teaches men to survive divorce despite a legal system in which the cards are heavily stacked against them. Her practical advice on withstanding the emotional and financial ravages of divorce focuses on how to survive three types of wives:

  • The doting, clingy sweetheart who wants to stay married at all costs
  • The shrill, abusive, spiteful, and totally draining harpy
  • The self-absorbed career woman with powerful friends and her own agenda

PLEASE NOTE: This book is for entertainment purposes only and is by no means a substitute for legal advice. For God's sake, do not act in reliance on the opinions of the author, who is a humorist, not a lawyer.

Critic reviews

"You've got to read this incredible book! When I read it, I actually thought the author was a guy." (Howard Stern)
"With chapters like 'Breaking the News,' 'Prepare to Unload,' and 'With or Without a Girlfriend'... it covers all the basics." ( The Seattle Times)

Where does How to Dump Your Wife rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It's a good insight into what to expect in a breakup or Divorce if your partner is Angry, Mean, or Crazy.

Any additional comments?

The book pretty much assumes that you and the Wife are on really bad terms. It tries to give you info on the tough fight you're in for and how to get out quickly and as smoothly as possible.

Not just Separate. Dump.

Although a bit cynical, the advice in this book was pretty solid. Very heavy on the lawyer bashing though.

Good practical advice

Entertaining, somewhat sarcastic and informative. It gave me some good food for thought. The recording is based on the conversion of a 3 cd set which is a little annoying.

An entertaining listen

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, both unhappily married and those considering marriage. This should be prerequisite reading for ALL men thinking about getting marriage.

What other book might you compare How to Dump Your Wife to and why?

There are no other books that I've read to compare to this one. It speaks the truth with candor you can't find anywhere else. Everything, especially marriage, doesn't work out. Too many people would have you work yourself to death trying to save something that's horrible or simply remain miserable. Lee tells you how to get out of a bad situation or simply one that's not for you.

What does Lee Covington bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Excellent narration. Rarely do you find an author capable of narrating their own book so well. She makes you smile...even about the ugliness and absurdities that often occur prior to, during, and after divorce.

Any additional comments?

Audio quality is good but not great. Worth listening to regardless.

Must Read for Any Guy Contemplating Divorce

I would never have bought this in the bookstore because, frankly, I would have been embarrassed. But it's far from a misogynistic tract as the title might suggest. It's humorous, uplifting and written by a compassionate lady with a lot of wisdom and legal smarts. Not sure what the previous reviewer was complaining about -- I didn't have any problems with the audio quality (the sample is representative -- you be the judge) and there were no "missing" or "extra" portions. Also, the band featured (though I've never heard of "Splitsville" before or since) was pretty darned good. Oh yeah, and Bababooey!

Extremely helpful and a fun listen
