Many people know what 3D printing is, and others may have even seen a 3D printer in action. However, few people know how to create 3D models, much less use their printer.

Currently, understanding and utilizing the technology to design and manufacture products, (as opposed to "things") still proves difficult for a myriad of reasons. Like any growing, innovative technology, as quality, speed, and costs are optimized, the adoption rate and potential uses start to flourish. 3D printing is a rising technology that will soon disrupt many industries across the economic spectrum.

Democracy of manufacturing:

3D printing is dubbed the "democracy of manufacturing". Imagine, anyone can design and create anything for anyone, anywhere. The democratization of media through self-publishing tools has spawned an age where everyone can easily produce and publish as an artist, producer, director, or writer. With the Internet and 3D printing, the same change is soon to come to objects. Before long, people will be able to design, print, and sell products from the comfort of their own homes.

However, despite all the hype for 3D printing, the true potential of a 3D printing "factory-on-demand" is still often overlooked. There are many books out there that teach you how to create 3D printed objects. However, there has been no guide, so far, on how to turn 3D printing into a business. This audiobook fills that gap by being the first guide on how to monetize your 3D printing skills. In addition to describing the technology in detail, it walks you through all the practical steps of turning your 3D printing skills into a business. The book will benefit both complete beginners and those more advanced in 3D printing technology.

This audiobook includes practical advice, such as a list of the best software and hardware on the market today, discusses environmental advantages of 3D printing, and the advantages of a shared economy.

Overall was decent information and gave some good ideas. It is a bit dated now being 9 years old, machines have improved tremendously and websites listed are not all there any more and there are new ones since publication. Was a good listen, probably would have been better as a print or ebook to look at references. Narrator was very good.

Good information

When written this information would have been helpful. The information is dated and does not reflect current resources, printers or software. Basic information is ok, but advanced topics are sorely outdated.
