Kidnapped American teenager Jason Smith must evade his captors and survive the cold harsh wilderness of Canadian wildlife at the tender age of 16.

Kidnapped across the border to Canada, Jason discovers the lows of human spirit when he wakes up bruised and disheveled, strapped to a wooden chair and clinging to dear life. Not realizing where he is, he knows that the winds swirling inside the kidnappers' cabin indicate that what's on the outside is even harsher. Kidnapped without any known demands, Jason must free himself loose before it's too late.

Will Jason make it back to America's frontier amidst the harsh cold winter of Canada and the dangerous thugs who took him from his family?

I like the plot and the setting of the story. The author painted a somewhat realistic scenario. It is easy to listen and follow through the story of Jason. Seeing a kidnapping in the point of view of a teenager is new to me. Would recommend it.

Great narration. Perfect fitting to the story. It felt like the story is narrated by Jason, a simple boy with simple friends living in a simple house. Every listener would ask the same question: why would someone kidnap a simple teenager? It's gripping. I could easily imagine the situation Jason is in. Unexpected twist. It makes sense now why the book is entitled Hungerfate.

For a teenager, Jason is much mature than other teenagers I know. The story is mysterious enough to keep me listening. I knew there is a reason behind everything. After finishing the book, it all makes sense to me. Not too long, just short enough for me to finish in one-sitting.

Interesting story. Simple plot line. Good twist. The story of Jason's struggles took place in the cold winter of Canada. While the story evolved around him trying to free himself up, I see that the story could have been further expanded with more characters and scenes. This story has the potential to be a longer novel. I'd be interested to see a series of stories like this from the author.

The first mystery/thriller book I have listened to. The narrator's voice fits the story. For a first fiction book, this is a good one. I listened to it straight for an hour. I wish there's more to it. I enjoyed it. Great turn of events.
