Hunt’s Utah hotels and food stores begin to materialize when Hunt receives word from Richard Slater, his hotel manager in Salt Lake City. An arrogant lady friend informed him of the mayor’s wife’s plans to have the church leaders gather to pressure the Utah Territorial Governor to force the sale of the hotel and piano to the Mormon church at next month’s meeting at a fraction of the hotel and piano’s cost. If this fails, she bragged they would force an Eminent Domain policy that would allow Mormons to take what they wished from non-believers.
Hunt quickly plans to rescue the piano before it is too late and asks Jules Frigman of Steinway Mfg. in New York for help.
The Marshal Service sends Hunt two new recruits to replace the men Hunt has lost. Hunt warns Earl not to send him spoiled politician’s kids to raise.
Hunt buys another ranch near Topeka and inherits a vicious Mexican fighting bull. Unsure of what to do with it he talks to a rodeo owner that is looking for a new bull to replace his top draw.
