Hunt and his men are busy trying to trap a serial killer preying on lonely widows when the Denver Newspaper hires a nosy news reporter who foils their attempts at trapping the assailant by publishing the Marshal’s plans to capture him.
The assailant strikes one last time and leaves town, and the men track him to New Orleans, where they are assisted by Ace Sterling, one of Hunt’s deputy marshals who has been promoted to U.S. Marshal of New Orleans.
The nosy reporter attempts to force his way into the Marshal’s office to obtain information for publication but is stopped from doing so.
Sheriff Drake Collins, who has served Denver faithfully for 25 years, has competition who is running against him for election.
Hunt asks Winston to borrow his wolfdog to protect the Marshal’s office to prevent a break-in, with dramatic results.
