Swept into the underworld of the undead, vice cop Wendy Shaw finds herself transformed into a creature of myth and legend, and she really does not want to be. Now, this sassy, fire haired spitfire struggles to cope with the changes that have been forced upon her, and she must keep the secret that she is a fledgling vampire lest she be killed by the vampire aristocrats who enforce their laws. Most of all, it is her intention to bring down the vampire who has done this to her, only to find herself caught up in an impending civil war between the ruling vampire caste and those who would take power from them. What she and the vampires do not know is someone else watches from the shadows, someone of an ancient line thought lost to history, and he holds the key that could free Wendy from her undead prison, by death or other means.
