Welcome back to the small city of Madsen, Texas, located in the heart of ranch and farm country.

Here is where cosmopolitan types rub elbows with roughhewn and deeply tanned rugged Westerners, where a sleek satin dress and a short snug blue denim shift are both considered formalwear for a Saturday night on the town.

Here is where Michael Winkler serves as the principal of Madsen High School, known for his strict discipline. And across the street from the high school is the flower shop recently purchased by new Madsen resident Lily Davidson.

One day when Lily has to deliver flowers for a staff member, the two divorced people are immediately drawn to each other. Michael, at age 50, and Lily at age 49 instantly realize that they want to spend some time together.

After they have met for lunch on a couple of Saturdays, Lily makes another delivery to the school, and laughingly confesses to Michael that she had to quickly put out the cigarette that was still in her lips when she entered the building. And that is when Michael teasingly tells her what the penalty is for smoking in the school building, including opening a drawer and showing her the instrument used for such enforcement.

Much teasing entails, not just that afternoon but when they go out for dinner the following Saturday evening. But what will come of the humorous banter being exchanged regarding the possibility that Michael may know the fitting manner in which to bring Lily’s smoking to an end?
