Welcome to the inner workings of my mind
Nothing really makes sense
Except that it seems
We are all just souls
Given these human genes
What if we’re souls; in fur or in skin
And all that separates us is the case we are in
Hearts can feel close
Although their shells are far
Could it be that our body
Is not all that we are
We long for connection
That can touch deep inside
Our exterior shell
Is just where we hide, maybe
We get to be our genuine selves and be free
In the blackness of dreams
Where you don’t need eyes to see
I pray that you read through my work
With an open mind and open heart
