Il riflesso del suo viso non è molto nitido in quelle acque torbide, ma ciò nonostante riesce a individuare nuove rughe. Il suo sguardo è sempre più spento. Si era ripromesso di non guardare più il suo volto. Per mantenere fede a quel proposito, aveva gettato via tutti gli specchi che possedeva. I segni del tempo hanno deturpato il suo viso tanto che quasi stenta a riconoscersi e ripete a se stesso e alla sua immagine riflessa: "Non sono io! Non sei me, maledetto riflesso! Sei solo un fantasma". Ogni ruga riflette la rifrazione del tempo.
