The second book expanded the world and delves a bit deeper into the mysteries and secrets of Larkspur and book binding. The series feels a bit more like TV serials than like books, and then quick and easy to read. Love the world created and the mysterious dark academia atmosphere of Larkspur.
The story feels like clues and threads are being left, but slightly haphazardly. I think the off kilter feeling for the main character comes off very well, it just feels a bit less than intentional. Lots of information and secrets coming our way, and many mysteries to be solved as the series continues on another cliffhanger!

More Mystery and Intruige!

Book 2 is still so mysterious. We get some new information that makes things even more of a mystery!
I'm really enjoying how complex this story is turning out to be.

This story definitely keeps you on your toes, and leaves you with a giant cliffhanger that will make you ready to dive into the next book.

secrets, secrets and more secrets!!!

Things are definitely not what they appear to be. Lots of secrets revealed but lots more to be revealed. I usually don't like cliffhangers but there is just enough drama, revelations, and questions answered that this book was definitely worth listening to. The narrator did an amazing job of taking the author's words and making me feel like I am there at Larkspur Academy.

Sequel

Book two begins where book one ended and reveals more answers to the secrets that were building in book one. However, for every answer there are several more questions that arise and Mina is left more confused than ever. Once again, the book concludes with a cliffhanger leading the reader to the third book.

The hits keep coming!

In this second installment of the Larksbur series, Mina’s powers grow, as does her lack of faith in who she can trust.
Mina finds that her whole concept of family has been built on lies a house of flames.
Lavenza and Kashner have done a beautiful job of keeping me on the hook!
