Das Dorf Buchberg bestand aus vielen zerstreuten Bauernhöfen und größeren und kleineren Gruppen von Häusern und Häuschen, die da und dort hinter den reichbelaubten Fruchtbäumen hervorguckten. In der Nähe der Kirche standen nur einige Häuser: das Schulhaus, die Küsterwohnung, das feste alte Haus des Gemeindepräsidenten und einige kleinere Bauernhäuser.
