April, 1945. As the Americans storm the Buchenwald concentration camp, among the survivors are Jakob and Emmanuelle, barely more than teenagers. Each of them has lost everything and everyone in the unspeakable horrors of the war. But when they meet, they find hope and comfort in each other. They marry and build a happy, prosperous life for themselves and their new family, but their pasts cast a long shadow over the present.

As the '60s are in full swing, their son Max is an ambitious, savvy businessman, determined to throw off the sadness that has hung over his family since his birth. But as Max’s life unfolds, he must learn that there is meaning in his heritage that will help shape his future....

Makes me reflect on what makes for a solid family foundation. Is there really such a thing as a soul mate?

This story gives hope. I totally enjoyed it and could not stop listening.

Wow, potential to be such an awesome unique story, but Ms Steele mustn't have liked it much. felt more like a first draft waiting for the heart and substance part and a decent editor. I love some of her books and didn't hate this one. Just was unremarkable and a bit disappointing.

clinical story that could have been great

I came across this book at the bookstore where I used to made an appointment to meet my father in front when he was alive.
I like this story so much because it reflects my life as a wife, a mother, and a lady beyond generations and nationalities.
Especially including with so lovely ending! This gave me so much hope to stay positively.

In His Father’s Footsteps: it reminds me of my father and me
