Love this series

This is another wonderful story in this series. I love how protective Axel is of Sawyer. Axel wants to make sure his best friend knows just how special and worthy he is. Even though there is a lot of action and unknowing going on, Axel and Sawyer find a way to move from friends to lovers. I love how we see alittle from the other characters and I look forward to the next story.
Narrator C.S. Harder does a fabulous job.

Friends to lovers

Two friends pinning for each other. Sawyer and Axel story is sweet. Just the right amount of pinning, throw in the ex and you have a great story!

Sweet and fluffy, except for the ruthless criminal

I really, really enjoyed the suspense. The frustration and fear brought by Rodrigues to all the characters is utterly tangible through the whole book.

It took me a bit to get what was going on as I didn't read or listen to the first book, which is completely my fault, and I recommend that you don't make the same mistake :P

The love story between the very sweet detective Sawyer and Axel, who is studying to become a nurse and is filled with self-doubt is delightful, but not really what got me hooked. They are best friends and pinning for each other, both afraid of ruining their friendship if they try for something more. Until Axel's psycho ex-boyfriend attacks him in a parking lot and Sawyer comes to the rescue :P I like how Sawyer is determined to make Axel understand how valuable he is, how worthy of respect and consideration he is. And I enjoyed seeing Axel slowly understand and internalize this. But I never really empathized with Axel. I guess I like my omegas more... self-assured :P

I haven’t read a romance by a male author before. Glad I gave this one a try. The crime aspect mixed with the love story was perfect. Not having read a similar story before, I kept waiting for them to turn into wolves because the terms alpha and omega were used throughout the story. The hardest part of the story for me was the voiced used for Sawyer sounded feminine or childlike. That was such a little thing that I quickly adapted to. Overall, I would read another novel by this author.

In Love With My Bestie is the second book in the Second Chance Lovers series by Austin Bates. Sawyer and Axle are interesting and likeable characters who have a great story to tell. Angst/drama, humor, sweetness and steam... this story holds your attention and keeps you reading. A good addition to the series.

Narration is done by C S Harder. Smooth and easy to listen to. Clear recording and voicework. The characters really shone and the story enjoyable.
