Mitch Beckman has always questioned his family dynamics, particularly why he and his dad were never truly able to connect. Searching through the things his father left behind when he died, Mitch comes across a photo that might explain it all. Realizing there’s only one person who can give him the answers he seeks, Mitch decides to confront his mother about what really happened thirty years ago.

In 1989, after a broken engagement, Jack Wells leaves his West Virginia home in search of a better life on the South Carolina coast. He gets more than he bargained for when he meets the couple next door and realizes they have more in common than he thinks…particularly he and the beautiful Alice.
