Oprah book club plot and woke politics

Bought this as military historical fiction because I finished an Adrian Goldsworthy series. To say this is bad is understatement. I am over halfway in and nothing military has occurred. Instead, everything is about people being scarred by their parents. Along with a large helping of a thinly disguised Trump villain. Dreadful!
