In a world where freedom is a distant dream and magic holds both wonder and peril, two souls find themselves bound by fate in a daring quest for liberation.

Ravenna, trapped on a secluded island governed by the iron rule and ancient magic of the Priestess, dares to dream of escape. With each clandestine nail driven into her raft, she inches closer to defying the shackles of her fate, risking everything for the promise of freedom.

Meanwhile, across the vast expanse of the world, Salvatore yearns for adventure as he sets sail with the navy. Destiny has a different course in mind, as treachery lurks in the shadows, threatening to shatter his dreams and plunge him into the depths of danger.

As their paths converge against all odds, Ravenna and Salvatore must navigate a perilous journey filled with magic, betrayal, and the relentless pursuit of liberty. Together, they embark on a daring escape, their fates intertwined amidst the swirling currents of destiny.

But freedom comes at a cost, and as they flee the clutches of oppression, they must confront their deepest fears and uncover the true power that lies within.

Join Ravenna and Salvatore on an unforgettable adventure where courage and resilience are the keys to unlocking a world of magic and possibility.

I really enjoyed Isle of the Unknown Gods. While it’s not a long fantasy, it’s surprisingly rich—with layered plotlines and multiple POVs that keep things engaging throughout. I’m especially intrigued by Salvatore’s mother’s storyline and can’t wait to see how all these threads eventually converge and where they lead. Adara Bryan does a solid job with the narration.

Even though this book isn’t very long, there was so much going on! It was very impressive to have so many plot lines and point of views, but I never felt lost. I can’t wait to see how the story lines of Salvatore and his family (especially his mom and brother) along with Ravenna’s family converge in the next book. I do love the author’s take on magic and the gods and how people corrupt the messages from the gods to maintain control and power. If you enjoy political intrigue then I highly recommend this book. I’m looking forward to book 2! Also, hats off to the narrator, she did an excellent job!

On an island ruled by fear and ancient magic, Ravenna secretly builds a raft and dares to run. Across the sea, Salvatore signs up for adventure with the navy and finds betrayal instead. When their paths collide, escape turns into a high-stakes fight through magic, danger, and hard choices—because freedom isn’t given lightly, and it always comes at a cost.

The author, Emery Luna, crafts a story that feels immersive without ever feeling heavy. Ravenna and Salvatore are fully realized characters, shaped by their circumstances, strengths, and very human fears, making it easy to invest in their journey from the start. Their choices feel natural, their motivations clear, and the dialogue fits each moment and situation with an authenticity that keeps everything grounded.

What really shines is the balance between the characters and plot. Twists land at just the right time — surprising but believable — and the emotional stakes grow right alongside the action. The pacing is steady, the world well-constructed, and the story stays engaging from beginning to end. It’s the kind of writing that quietly hooks you and doesn’t let go.

The narrator, Adara Bryan, delivers a clear, confident performance that makes the story easy to fall into from the first chapter. The delivery is smooth and straightforward, never distracting, and the pacing feels just right. Every word is crisp, allowing the action and emotion to come through naturally. Bryan’s voice is rich and distinct, giving every character their own presence and personality. Subtle tonal shifts highlight the emotional stress behind the scenes and add real depth to the suspense and action. The result is a narration that doesn’t just tell the story — it quietly elevates it.
This is one of those listens where you glance up at the clock and realize hours have passed — always the best kind of storytelling.
