This is the definitive behind-the-scenes account of Capcom's horror video game series Resident Evil - one of the most popular, innovative, and widely influential franchises of all time.

Industry expert Alex Aniel spent two years interviewing key former members of Capcom staff, allowing him to tell the inside story of how Resident Evil was envisioned as early as the late 1980s, how its unexpected and unprecedented success saved the company from financial trouble, how the series struggled at the turn of the century, and, eventually, how a new generation of creators was born after the release of Resident Evil 4.

Itchy, Tasty narrates the development of each Resident Evil game released between 1996 and 2006, interspersed with fascinating commentary from the game creators themselves, offering unique insight into how the series became the world-conquering franchise it is today.

As a video game player of the franchise, it was very enlightening to hear more of the back story of the first wave of Resident Evil. Some of things I knew, but hearing it all over again, made it become more of fond memories. I just wish it had more of a breakdown of each installment and how it became and a hint of where the series is going, etc. it may not seem important to some, but for being a fan, it was good, overall.

A fan of the franchise

As a big fan of Resident Evil I appreciate this book entirely. It does have a lot of info I wasn't aware of before but a lot of the topics covered are well known among the fan base, and that's ok too. If you're a huge fan like me it's an ok book. I'll listen to it again, I'm sure. But to someone just curious about the franchise then this info dump will do you well. Not bad (thumbs up).

For Fans of the Franchise this is an excellent book delving into the history of my favorite video game franchises . Learnt lots of new things about my favorite games from the series and about their creators and the turbulent development process. A must listen for any video games enthusiast or fan of the franchise.

If you love the video games this will give you a podcast-type overview and history of games 1-4 development, as well as the spin off titles. The narrator is extremely thorough and well-read. More about the story line of the games would have been great, yet I understand that was purposely not the focus of this title. The focus is the trials of developing each game. 4 stars for type of content; 5 stars for performance

Interesting but unexpected

I love Alex and his dedication to Resident Evil and all the immense hard work that he's done for the franchise and fans. This book was great, but not exactly what I had in mind. I was thinking this would be more about creating the story of Resident Evil characters and lore, not about the sales and console wars. However, it all hits nostalgia, it's cool af to hear about, and there are several moments that have you laughing. If you're a fan and looking for something lore related, this isn't it, but, if you want something to commemorate the creators of the franchise, look no further.

Interesting at least
