This delightfully humorous fantasy from the legendary 1950s Fantastic Stories pulp magazine begins with an ordinary Chicago librarian courting his beautiful (but insipid) fiancée. Shortly afterwards, she and her family are zapped into a parallel world by two real estate gangsters. Albert turns the table on the gangsters, but then finds that his own time has become warped. He meets two creatures from an alternate world and in short order crosses with them over into a horizon-less, magical realm.

When he enters the forest of Drendon, and his girlfriend turns into a woodnymph, and her brother becomes a fawn, and the dreadful parrot-beaked, cannibalistic Kwistian birds come to feast, he doesn't waste precious time asking what's going on? It's Magic, You Dope!

Our intrepid hero finds himself menaced by hotsies, Kwistians, sarks, and wumbles. Help arrives from Maggot the witch, but Maggot is a busy witch and doesn't have time to explain how to use the bag of spells she gave him, so he must figure them out by himself….

Engrossing and Entertaining

I absolutely loved this book it was entertaining, fun, and fast-paced. I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes adventure and mythological creatures. The plot and characters were strong and fun. This is my honest, unbiased review that I am voluntarily leaving of my own choice.

A Wacky Magical Adventure

I enjoyed the story, characters, & magical locale. The narrator did a wonderful job differentiating & voicing each of the characters. I would love to hear more wacky magical tales set in the land of Drenden and more adventures with Timtik, the faun, Lorn, the woodnymph, Maggot, the witch, and Albert, the human. I would definitely recommend this book!

Suspend disbelief at the door. It starts out kind of hokey but becomes quite fun. Much like stepping into a gamer story, without the boring repetition of rules, point scoring, or obligatory sex. Short and to-the-point.

A wacky but fun magical listen

Interesting. Looking for something different? This might be it. You can read the synopsis so I won't repeat that. It is a unusual tale about magic, magical characters and love.

The narration was excellent. The characters were easily recognized.
