Heather Shumaker has sparked much discussion with her "renegade rules for raising competent and compassionate kids". In this follow-up book, she takes on new hot-button issues like banning homework, technology use, and skipping kindergarten. Shumaker offers broader guidance on how parents can control their own anger and move from an overscheduled life to one of more free play.

Parenting can too often be reduced to shuttling kids between enrichment classes, but Shumaker challenges parents to reevaluate how they're spending their precious family time. This book helps parents help their kids develop important life skills in an age-appropriate way. Sometimes being a good parent means breaking the rules.

Loved this book. Practical, comprehensive, well supported by research. And perhaps more importantly, it instills hope and reinforces the "gut" instincts in parenting.

this book challenge a lot of my well that's just the way it's done thinking. it made me look at what is most important to me and what is actually going to be helpful to my kid. not that I am going to incorporate every single one of her ideas but it will help me make better informed decisions.

The Bible is and always will be the best resource.

This was such a wonderful and enlightening read. Children are a gift from God, and are a joy, not a burden. This book is very helpful while navigating the cultural and social challenges we have brought upon ourselves and our children here in America. Struggling parents will reap the rewards once these practical and reasonable principles are consistently applied.

Amazing! This is my number one recommendation to any millennial or Gen Z parent. The future is coming and to prepare our children we need to raise them to be well rounded individuals. This book can get the next generation there.
