Deputy J. T. McKenna has known his best friend's little sister, Cheyenne Steel, her whole life. He isn't exactly sure when he fell in love with her. At least sometime when she was in high school. But he's six years older, a big age difference at the time. He decided to be patient, let her go off to college and have some fun, grow up a little.
He hadn't counted on her going to work in Dallas after graduation, falling love, getting engaged, then having her heart broken when the jerk ended their relationship. Since she came home to the Rolling Star Ranch, he's been patient once again, giving her time to heal. His sister, Chey's best friend, keeps telling him he's moving too slowly. Maybe she's right.
Chey's painful breakup with her fiancé, followed by witnessing a neighborhood store owner shot during a robbery, sent her hightailing it out of Dallas and back home. She's done with the big city. She's happy working with her friends in their Rollin' Star Junktiques business and helping revive their small town of Buckley, Texas.
As for men, she's done with them, too. She's fenced in her heart with barbed wire and isn't about to let anybody get too close. It doesn't matter if she's lonely sometimes and isn't quite content with her life.
But the thing with barbed wire—if a man is persistent and careful, he can slip through.
Can J. T. convince Chey that love is worth the risk...and that sometimes God's plan has been waiting right in front of you all along?
A heartwarming Christian small-town romance filled with faith, second chances, and a cowboy who refuses to give up on love.
