The Jane Austen Literacy Foundation's first short-story writing competition was launched in April 2020 as the COVID pandemic took grip. Based on the theme "Inspiration", the foundation received a phenomenal response to the competition with entries from around the world. Three finalist stories were chosen by the Jane Austen Literacy Foundation judging panel and published online for a public vote to choose the winner.

The winning story, "The List" by Cathryn Goddard, is a truly inspirational story that touched all that heard it. "Hot Hand Hyacinth" by Philip Gibson and "Never the Same Twice" by Mairibeth MacMillan were equally loved and complete this set of three very different but inspirational stories.

The Foundation was started by Jane Austen’s family in 2014 to improve literacy rates in developing communities. This audiobook is narrated by JALF ambassador, best-selling author, and award-winning audiobook narrator Alison Larkin, whose most popular recent narrations include The Complete Novels by Jane Austen.
