As if she didn't have trouble enough after her classmates discovered she had worn her brother's underwear to school (oh, the teasing, the humiliation!), Jennifer Murdley has just stumbled into Mr. Elives' Magic Shop, where she buys a toad named Bufo. Of course the odds of buying a normal toad in that shop are zero, as Jennifer finds out when Bufo starts to talk to her.
As it turns out, talking is the least of the toad's strange talents. Before Jennifer's adventures with him are over, she will have to mend an ancient tragedy, save her little brother from being a toad himself, and (hardest of all) come face-to-face with the fact that in a world obsessed with beauty, she is anything but. At least not on the outside...

This story kept my attention from the start. I enjoyed the entire storyline. I was very invested in all the characters. And the ending twist was so sweet, the final sentences of the story had me tearing up. The actors delivered that final scene with such excellence, you can actually feel it. It makes me smile and tear up at the same time.
5 stars all around. Thank you, Bruce CoVille for writing this and thank you to the actors for an excellent performance.
BTW, my name is Jennifer lol.
I love everything about this story.

When I found out there were audiobooks for the series, I used to rent them from the library and listen to them over and over. I really enjoy everyone who performed for the story, and the rest of the stories in the series.
I enjoy these stories just as much as an adult, especially now is the world seems so much more superficial than it did when I was a child.
As a young girl who felt awkward and out of place in her own skin, the story really spoke to me and the message of the story really struck home. It’s what’s on the inside that really counts. It’s being a good person that really counts.
I highly recommend the story for it’s heartfelt message and the excellent performance of those who performed the characters.
Excellent story with an excellent message
