Buckle up, Buttercup…

Three nosy relatives, two jobs, one fledgling side hustle, and zero roommate prospects. No wonder Ada Russo is saltier than the rim of a margarita glass.

When her brother’s best friend lands in Lennox Valley needing a place to stay for the summer, Ada’s spare room is the logical choice. What’s not logical is the way Jesse Bailey, one of her oldest friends, suddenly has her fantasizing about taking stupid, sexy risks.

Jesse never planned on returning to the life he fled eight years ago. But when a family emergency puts him on the next flight home, he can’t run from his past any longer. Something else he can’t avoid? His best friend’s loudmouth little sister. Back in high school, Ada was like one of the guys, but now she’s all grown up—provoking thoughts Jesse’s determined to squash.

Unable to resist the torturous tension, Jesse and Ada soon learn their scorching secret will be impossible to keep under wraps. And as their hearts intertwine, it’s not only lying to her brother, but lying to themselves, that threatens to rip them apart.

Jesse’s Girl is the second book in the Lennox Valley Chronicles series. It features mature content intended for listeners aged 18 and up.

Overall it's a good story. There are a couple story devices that aren't particularly my favorite (ie miscommunication/not sitting down and having an adult conversation) but Ada and Jesse are ultimately good together. Probably a 3.5/5 spicy level.

All the buttercups! Jesse’s Girl by Hannah Brixton was a sweet and swoony best friend’s sister romance that had me blushing and happy sighing from start to finish. I couldn’t get enough of Ada and Jesse’s snarky banter and intimate moments that had me longing for these two to express their true feelings and be together. This was my first Hannah Brixton book, and it will not be my last.

Victoria Connolly and Ryan Lee Dunlap perform this audiobook in dual narration, and this pairing was everything I didn’t know I needed in my life! Victoria’s melodic voice resonated with Ada’s conflicted, passionate, and desirable persona as she dealt with her newfound feelings for Jesse. Ryan’s warm, inviting tone offered the perfect amount of quick wit and steamy intensity to convey Jesse’s irresistible demeanor. Both narrators created just the right mixture of longing and forbidden to make Ada and Jesse’s love for each other undeniable.

Overall, I loved this book. If you are a fan of a forced proximity romance with a hot hunky farm boy, a sassy turquoise- colored hair bartender, friends to lovers, brother’s best friend, taking care of your mom, artist ambitions, dyslexic rep, bowling shenanigans, tension filled haircuts, he defends her, food truck conversations, margarita confessions, Princess Bride references, secret romance, love declarations, post it notes scavenger hunt, and a HEA that’s worth staying for, then you will love Ada and Jesse’s story. I’m looking forward to more from Hannah Brixton.
