"Jesus' Tears for Jerusalem" Sermon on Luke 19:41, 42

Second Sermon of the series by the renowned 17th century Genevan pastor/theologian, Francis Turretin. Turretin, who has grown popular in recent years due to the republishing of his magisterial sytematic theology: The Institutes of Elenctic Theology, is not known as a preacher by the English speaking world. This sermon series makes Turretin's preaching available in English for the first time. In these sermons, Turretin hotly implores, exhorts, ravishes, and excites Christians to greater love to God and obedience to him. Turretin preaches this sermon on the following passage: Luke 19:41-42 And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it, Saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes. With empassioned rhetoric, Turretin implores his Genevan congregation to learn from the sad example of Jerusalem, and by repenting of her sins, seek God's mercy before she suffers the same fate as that holy city of old. This is a shining example of Reformed preaching in the 17th century.
