More than 500 years ago, 16th-century Reformer John Calvin was born—a theologian whose teachings set the stage for reformation of the church around the world. The modern world is in continual need of his Christ-exalting doctrine and vision of the Christian life. In 20 essays by leading Reformed pastors and scholars, this primer explores Calvin’s life, teaching, and legacy for a new generation. This book is a clarion call to Christians everywhere to take seriously the ongoing need of theological reformation across the globe.

Wow! I’m not a Pastor or a Seminary Student. This book was so thorough its review of John Calvin and his theology that I could only listen to it a few hours at a time. The explain action of his theology was so enlightening that I had to stop and try to digest the intellect and thinking of this man before I went further. I had no real understanding of Calvin even though I consider myself a reformed theology Christian. I recommend any Christian take the effort to “work thru” this epic book and learn whom John Calvin really was/is.

The doctrinal side at the end was significantly longer than the initial biography and for some might be less interesting.

this was a great overview of Calvin, covering both his life and teaching.

This edition of "John Calvin" is both profound in presenting the person and work of John Calvin, yet easy to read and understand. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would highly recommend to all who are interested in this humble giant in theology of the Reformation.

Most biographies cover the facts of someone's life. This book goes beyond that. It doesn't you Calvin for his ideas, impact, and identity. Very well done!

While the audio reader isn't the most engaging, the content is well worth pushing through for.
