A heartwarming tale of office life, homicide and biscuits, which was longlisted for the Bath Novel Award 2017.

Jonathon Fairfax, the world’s most socially awkward hero, works for a giant corporation where he specialises in muttering ‘um’ and tripping over bins.

When he accidentally discovers a colossal corporate conspiracy, it soon becomes clear that someone will do anything to keep it a secret - including murder.

Listen to this audiobook on its own or as a follow-up to The Perpetual Astonishment of Jonathon Fairfax - a best seller that was shortlisted for the Bath Novel Award 2014.

Critic reviews

"It’s funny, it’s daft-yet-relatable, it’s still a nerve-jangly thriller and it moves at a cracking pace. In fact, if you’re stuck in a bit of a reading rut, it’s just the palate cleanser you need.” (Emerald Street)

"This one is even better than the one before. Buy!” (John Lenahan, best-selling author, magician and voice of the toaster in Red Dwarf)

Brilliant Writing • Convoluted Plot • Wonderful Narration • Wicked Humor • Rich Storyline • Exciting Adventure

This book was good. So good that the villain has made me really distrust all people with the villain's name. Jonathon is so socially awkward. I love him. Lance is a self absorbed mess. I love him too. They stumble into mysteries and fumble around to solve them. Sometimes they have a falling out. Sometimes they patch their wounds. I am eager to see what they stumble into next. Also. Totally ruined "Norwegian Wood" by the Beatles for me. Choosing to live in denial about "Perfect Day" by Lou Reed

I am now prejudiced against all people named Todd

I first discovered this book on the pre-Covid world that was comparatively “the good old days.” This book harkens back to the pre-pre days that can be interpreted as the “golden days” that were differently interpreted at the time. The impression of American tech executives and corporate speak alone is five stars. In fact, this is my favorite narrator of any book as demonstrated by the multiple
Times I’ve listened to book two. Now on to book three in the series…again.

If you need to smile and laugh out loud…or if you simply ever wondered what a PG Wodehouse might be up to these days…look no further. This is the book that can save the day. Or, at least a very important day that could benefit from saving.

A perfect follow up to the first! Gen X friendly!!

Awkward Hero stumbles blithely into another mystery. This is a great read with a convoluted plot like GO or Pulp Fiction. Explores the 6 degrees of separation. Hope there will be many more adventures with Jonathan. Great characters and lots of LOL moments!

This would make a great TV series
