Maauro has survived the terrors of the Barjan Deep. Armed with new information on her Creators, she sets out. Disaster strikes the hyperspace channel. Seachange is thrown into uncharted space. But they have not exited alone. A Thieves Guild ship, pursued by the Ederi, has also been flung free. Seachange must find somewhere to land but the unknown planet ahead, is circled by huge alien vessels. What awaits when they slip through the blockade to find the strange world which they have chanced upon?

Maauro continues to recover from Wrik’s passing and to deepen her relationship with Dassa. This is complicated by new arrivals, the ancient drone, Draguar, rescued on Enshar and the human, Ash, who Dassa reluctantly recruited to keep Seachange from being impounded. Factions are beginning to form on Seachange as different agendas, hopes and dreams clash.
