It is the Spring of 1779, and the Patriots are still licking their wounds after their disastrous loss at the Battle of Brier Creek. Flush with this small but significant victory, the British implement their Southern Strategy. Generals Clinton and Cornwallis shift their war efforts from New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania to Georgia and South Carolina. Their plan: take the South, crush the economic engine of the rebellious colonies, and break the will of the Patriots to continue their fight for independence.

Will Yelverton joins Francis Marion’s 2nd South Carolina Regiment to fight against the 1779 British invasion of South Carolina and then in the Siege of Savannah. With the coming of 1780, the British are reinforced, and their Southern Strategy moves ahead to the Siege of Charlestown and the Battle of Camden.
