KT and the Ride of His Life

The summer of 1986 has been terrible for 15-year-old KT Jacobs.

His somewhat eccentric and secretive father has disappeared. KT has been forced to move from his hometown to live with an aunt and uncle he barely knows. And as the story opens, he is waking up in a hospital room from a three-day coma, with his left arm and leg paralyzed after a catastrophic bicycle accident.

On the bright side, KT has a new friend. Fritzie is outgoing and impetuous, which KT is not. He may seem scattered and flaky, but Fritzie proves to be a solid (and creative) ally.

The two boys form an unlikely team to confront the secrets hidden in KT’s past.

Delightful!

I listen to audiobooks all the time - literally half of the books I finish are listened to rather than read - but it's not all that often that I find my enjoyment of a book is at least as much, if not more, due to the narration as to the story itself. This audio production of KT and the Ride of His Life is one of those books I would recommend for the sheer enjoyment of listening to a good story told especially well!

August Altier is a talented, engaging narrator, perfectly matched to the main character of the teenage KT and his friend Fritzie; I'm looking forward to hearing more books voiced by him. The production is excellent, clean and creative - I really enjoyed the audio effects used for the phone calls, something I haven't heard outside of audio drama.
