This would make an excellent miniseries. This sprawling story is at once heart wrenching, heartwarming, and heartfelt. The characters all feel very real. You can see some of the twists coming from a mile away however the story is fantastic. The narration is spot on. Highly recommend.

Where does Kane and Abel rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

On a scale of 1 to 10 it is a 6.5.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

How both men were very much alike and experienced a lot of pain do to their bad qualities. The lease interesting were the more than predictable plot twist. They may have been interesting 30 years ago when the book was written but now everyone of them is a cliche.

Which character – as performed by Jason Culp – was your favorite?

William Kane.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

The story of two great men who's desire to destroy was greater than the desire to build.

I really enjoyed this book. It did come off a bit to similar to one of his earlier books but was enough different that it was still very enjoyable. If this is your first Jeffrey Archer book, you will thoroughly enjoy it.

Beautifully written story. Well researched and presented simple interesting book.
I wanted to see both Abel and William to meet and see each other in a different light where they can discuss about what they could have achieved if they had worked together.

Thank you for giving us this wonderful book.

BEAUTIFUL STORY

I first read this book in 1988 while at sea on an US attack submarine. During the Cold War, we lived a life of secrets and intrigue but at that time, it paled in comparison to this novel.

I would come off a 12-hour watch, knowing I needed to sleep because I would be awoken 6-hours later to go back on watch again (and this brutal schedule went on for months).

However, the second I got to my bunk and immersed myself in the happenings of William and Vladic, I would struggle to put the book down. Needless to say, the day I finished the book was welcomed so I could get back to my routine.

Now, long after retiring from the Navy I saw this version on Audible and was overjoyed, because I wanted to hear the pauses and inflections, so that I could truly appreciate the drama and I was not disappointed.

Thank you for reintroducing me to this special book.
