When her friend and business partner Edwin Brown dies, it seems like Katherine Carter's own world has ended. But even as she rebuilds her life around the pie-and-mash shop where she works, a terrible shadow is hanging over the country. And little does anyone know the horrors 1914 will unleash.

Not Bad....Not Great

Not a bad read, just a bit predictable and not unlike some other books I have read or listened to about a strong willed woman being a hero in times when women had no rights. The reader was excellent, but then again I am a sucker for accents.

liked rhe narrator. did not like the story. wont read rhis author again. too sad. every 3rd person died.
