The harrowing story of one of America's first and costliest wars - featuring a new foreword by best-selling author Nathaniel Philbrick

At once an in-depth history of this pivotal war and a guide to the historical sites where the ambushes, raids, and battles took place, King Philip's War expands our understanding of American history and provides insight into the nature of colonial and ethnic wars in general. Through a careful reconstruction of events, including first-person accounts, and by providing information on the exact locations of more than 50 battles, King Philip's War is useful as well as informative. Students of history, colonial war buffs, those interested in Native American history, and anyone who is curious about how this war affected a particular New England town, will find important insights into one of the most seminal events to shape the American mind and continent.

This is an excellent, professional, non fiction work. It is as much a compilation of other documents as a narrative of the war. There are many very detailed descriptions of locations that would be useful if one was in the immediate vicinity and looking for actual precise locations. I read this at my residence in Pennsylvania and those descriptions were not useful for me. That is not a complaint. Just understand what you are getting. Thank You…

Very Good For What It Is, Very Detailed

Everything good history should be, great story, well told. The second half is very detailed on the geography, which, while very impressive and capitvating for those who know New England, for those outside the region that part may not be quite as interesting as it is substantial in its scope and detail. Overall highly recommend and thank the authors and the narrator for presenting this underappreciated but important chapter of American history.

This was a fantastic book, excelkently narrated

Loved this book. I grew up in the south shore and was never taught any of this growing up in school. The thing that really peaked my interest was stumbling upon Anawan Rock driving down rt 44. I stopped and read the sign at the entrance and was eager to learn more.

Overall great book!

I enjoyed hearing of the locations where historical battles took place in relation to locations today. I enjoyed the book a lot. I'm sure I would have enjoyed it more if I lived in New England S I would be more familiar with streets and place names.

Very well researched.
