"Kings & Queens of England" is a series of vignettes taking you on a whirlwind tour from the Norman conquest to modern times. Derek Jacobi's narration is, as ever, excellent. K&Q is a useful, concise review of British history with never a dull moment. It may even inspire you to read deeper biographies at a later time.

A whirlwind tour of British monarchs

This slender volume is a whirlwind tour of the history of British monarchy from the earliest days to the reign of Elizabeth II. Read by the incomparable Derek Jacobi, the book is a delight to hear and chock-full of tidbits about the men and women who have ruled the United Kingdom. My only "complaint" is that some of the stories are too short. I definitely would have liked to learn more about certain figures. Overall, it is a nice book for anyone interested in royal history.

Very entertaining trip through British monarchy

Derek Jacobi's narration is so good he could read the phone book for me. And I love the stories behind the British monarchy. My only complaint is that this was so whirlwind I found it hard to keep up, even though I was familiar with much of it already.

Overall I would recommend it highly and just plan on listening to a more in depth book soon.
