At Salzburg’s snowy Christmas market, I find the exact opposite of what I came for.

My European vacation is meticulously planned—four days, two cities, followed by a return to New York where my well-deserved promotion waits.

Salzburg’s Christmas market is merely another checkbox on my tightly scheduled itinerary.

But when a record-breaking snowstorm leaves me stranded with nowhere to stay, the irritatingly handsome hot chocolate vendor with the ridiculous Christmas sweater reluctantly offers his apartment above his café.

And then everything starts to unravel.

Elias is all warmth and whimsy. I’m logic and ambition.

He slows down to savor life. I speed through it.

We couldn’t be more different.

With Christmas approaching and my rescheduled flight looming, I’m faced with an impossible choice: the career that once meant everything, or a slower, sweeter life I never saw coming.
