As if a near-death experience at the hands of an old coffeemaker wasn't embarrassing enough, I woke up to find I could talk to animals. Or rather one animal in particular.

His full name is Octavius Maxwell Ricardo Edmund Frederick Fulton, but since that's way too long for anyone to remember, I've taken to calling him Octo-Cat. He talks so fast he can be difficult to understand, but seems to be telling me that his late owner didn't die of natural causes like everyone believes.

Well, now it looks like I no longer have a choice, apparently my life calling is to serve as Blueberry Bay's first ever pet whisperer P.I. while maintaining my façade as a paralegal at the offices of Fulton, Thompson & Associates.

I just have one question: How did Dr. Doolittle make this gig look so easy?

Oct-cat wins over in the end

Was admittedly a bit hesitant to start this one upon seeing there were so many titles published, but not yet released on audio yet. I am glad I did, though. If I'd waited for more to release, I may have forgotten to keep track and missed out on this fun listen. A collection of eclectic characters is nestled in the story and are carefully sprinkled through the different stories in the series. So far, good attention is paid to continuity by the writer for those who fear getting into a series to find it littered with gaps in the story lines. She has woven a nice little niche community and writes each story in a way that it flows well from book to book, but if you happen to hop in on a later title you are kept abreast and not lost. The narrator has done a fantastic job bringing these adorable characters to life in audio and distinguishes well between characters while maintaining an easy flow through out. If you like cozy, cheeky banter, wit and a cast of fun characters in your mysteries with plenty of fun then give this one a go. This 1st in the series introduces the leads well with a good back story for each began. You get to witness the hilariously rude introduction and follow them through from begrudging sleuthing partners and into a budding friendship.

Quick wrap up

Fun listen but a rather quick wrap up in the end. I’m looking forward to listening to the series as I drive.

Adorable cat help solves murder mystery

lovely story with a white collar cat, mystery in the office and a shocking will. Clean and entertaining cozy. Recommended book. l would like to get the rest of the series. Nicely narrated.
