Penny Blanchard is a young woman who ventures away from the only home she's known to embark on her own journey. Although her family supports her decision to move across the country, they are leery of her living alone in a world on the brink of war. They fear the tension brewing as the growing Changeling population is forced to hide from the Humans who fear and resent their genetically enhanced skills. Fate decides to throw Penny into the heart of this conflict when Ice, a lethal protector of the Changeling race, crosses her path. Her sudden and unexpected connection to him and his people's hidden world quickly introduces her to a subculture filled with both passion and danger. As the conflicts come to a boil, Penny is forced to make a life changing decision. She must choose to either stay with the human world she's always known, or follow her heart and stand at the side of the Changelings who teach her about strength, love, and the real meaning of family.
