"Oh my God, Briar! Where did you get that prosthetic leg?"

Things as a parent Lane thought he'd never say for four hundred, Alex.

But that's par for the course in Lane Ashbury's life considering everything is on the verge of falling apart. He not only has a toddler building her skills as a professional klepto, but he's also on the verge of divorce, and hoping desperately to save his business before it goes under.

Luckily, the owner of the stolen leg might just be an angel in disguise when he offers to be Lane's new nanny instead of pressing charges.

The whole thing would be perfect if Bowen Galanos didn't make Lane feel things. If he didn't make Lane question everything he thought he knew about himself every time Bowen's touch lingered just a little too long.

When Bowen offers some no-strings benefits to their friendship to see if maybe Lane's not as straight as he thought, Lane finds it impossible to say no. I mean, it's not like he's going to realize he's madly in love with his nanny, right?

That would be absurd.

That would be ridiculous.

And knowing him, that would be exactly his luck.

Knowing You is the first book in a light-hearted, single-dads romance series. It features a toddler with sticky fingers, a tired dad who just wants to be loved, a former stunt actor who craves to be needed, Henry Cavill man crushes, a hint of sweet, a twist of angst, a steamy bisexual awakening, and the happiest of happily ever afters.

The story and narration were good, with one exception... the child. An almost 4 year old is not a toddler, and unless the child has a speech deficit, the narrator voiced her very poorly for her age. A girl child of Briar's age should be fluent, have a robust vocabulary and speak in full sentences.

I like the amount of heart in the novel, and appreciate that there are some obstacles that don't magically disappear. What I don't like is that the characters other than the main two have no development, and I consider that lazy writing. The characters themselves note that in the novel that the ex-wife is devoid of any human feeling. Human feelings make characters more nuanced and plots more original. It also makes them harder to write, so I'm calling this a choice on the author's part to make writing easier. I don't regret reading it, but there's room for growth.

Shortcuts in side characters, otherwise good

this was a good story and I enjoyed though the cluelessness of the two MC's got a little frustrating. it feels like it was meant to be a slow burn, but from one chapter to the next it went from nothing to "wowzer". I just felt like some part of the story was missing? I'm not sure. it was still worth the read and makes me want to go on to read the other books in the series. This author is a great author and usually a five star for me but..? still read it as it is a good story.

the narration was awesome as usual and he is one of my favorites.

good story, great narration

This was a good start to a new E.M. Lindsey story. I have read novels of E.M. Lindsey with the same kinds of themes, as hearing impaired and mute MCs. This novel is with a minor and I love those too, single dads who fall in love (MM). I appreciate the audiobook of the series, not only the first book in the series, but all of the books, then I can switch to listening when I’m driving or busy around the home. I do not need to be long-winded here; I love E.M. Lindsey’s work and recommend it in general and this series in particular, because I know it’s going to be entertaining. 🩷💚🧡

Cute story
