To many people the Jersey Devil is real. It's not just a legend. Stories have been told for years about a demon of some kind living in the Pine Barrens of New Jersey. In the 1700's, stories began about Mrs. Lucy Leeds giving birth to her 13th child. Mrs. Leeds was murdered, her demonic child stolen and raised by someone, or something, in the Pine Barrens of New Jersey and has been terrorizing people ever since. Mike Harris studied the legend and came up with an interesting story that you will read about in this book. In a Jersey City College classroom located close to the Pine Barrens, Professor Jonathon Leeds is preparing to teach his class "American Myths and Legends." Today's subject is the Jersey Devil. Their assignment is to travel into the Pine Barrens to visit remnants of the home of Lucy Leeds and study what is believed to be myths that surround the legend. Strangely, not long after the students arrive in the Barrens, many of them begin to disappear, only to be found later horribly mutilated and dead. Police are called in to investigate. Professor Leeds it taken into custody but miraculously is able to escape back into the Barrens. Does the innocent-acting college Professor have anything to do with the deaths of his students?
