As the early evening hours drew closer to midnight, the Sandman summoned the Lord of Death, the Lord of Nightmares, and the Mistress of Dreams to his tower lair. The three were then confronted with a most profound conundrum. Amidst this conclave the revelation that a rare nightmarish dream needed to be bestowed to a metropolitan citizen before the first light of dawn left all stunned by such a dilemma. It was further revealed that the Lord of Nightmare’s tragic past held the key to such a fate. And should he fail with the impossible task set before him, he would suffer grave consequences.
With the companionship of the Mistress of Dreams, the Lord of Nightmares was compelled to revisit his past and face those who still haunted his thoughts. Neither, though, were aware of a shadowed conspiracy already understanding the answers needed and the realization that life was but a dream.
