The Sensory Channel of the Agathii are at it again. Starting a new time-line without adequate consideration of the consequences. This time they are sending Lincoln Grimes into the year 1860 to see what affect him saving President Lincoln from assassination would have on the history of The United States of America. They put him there that early so that he would be well established in history when the time came but they didn’t consider the changes he would make in the meantime. After all, as an African American in the pre-Civil-War United States, he wouldn’t have an opportunity to make much of a splash. So, they assume, anyway.
Equipped with his interface, Link has a virtual reality lab and quite a bit of the knowledge available from the twenty-first century. That lets him invent things and keep track of expenses and manage his affairs. At first his intent is simply to make a bit of extra money over the stipend the Agathii are paying him to be the on-site manager of their Control and Production Unit. But there are so many things that are needed, and the United States of 1860 has enough of an industrial base that a lot can be done.
Besides Link is living with the Radical Republicans and surrounded by abolitionists. Gradually his focus becomes more about ending slavery and trying to get the United States to live up to the promises made in the Declaration of Independence and the preamble to the Constitution.

Story good. Misprnouncing robot voice is disturbing and kills the suspension of disbelief needed to enjoy fiction.

Good story.

I found it ok, it felt very shallow though with the details of how the the mc did everything with regards to building their company or products. I felt that is was kinda un believable after a point. The politics in the book are present and if your ok with equality it is fine nothing over preachy. The book was free for me and for that price it was worth the listen even if it was ai.

It’s ok
