The voice is ok. But it's harder to know which character is speaking. There is no tone difference.

I love these Hope Landing books! Great Christian characters, intense stories and suspenseful mysteries! Dale is a man confident in his actions and in his skills, but it makes him look rash and overconfident, as though he doesn't think through what he's doing. Tamra is smart and just as skilled, but she thinks through her decisions for every possible outcome with no gray areas in her decisions. They are no longer a team, but when a criminal they put in jail gets released and threatens them both, they have to dig deep and find out why he was released and where he is now. This was a great suspense/ mystery with some old and new characters making appearances. I love the continuity of these stories. I like that Dale and Tamra knew each other in their previous job -it makes the romance more believable.
We've all said the same thing -the only thing that would make these better is a performance reader that can put accents on the correct words and pronounce the words correctly. It doesn't keep me from listening to them though.

Excellent mystery and love the ending!

What makes this book more enjoyable than the others in this series for me is the humorous situations that the couple find themselves in. Dale keeps injuring Tam on purpose in various ways. This becomes a joke that would have continued to be hilarious throughout the book had James continued it. I mean, the book would have been comedic genius if it had continued, but unfortunately, it didn’t. There are other situations that were funny like the costumes they were in. The book had some great scenes. Dale might be my favorite guy in this series. Seely is great, too, but I like this book better than his story which is next.

The men in this series lack confidence with the women making the romance implied but never really explored. This book is no exception. The action is good, but the relationships circle in place until the very last paragraphs. The set ups are pages long while the payoffs are only a few sentences.
