Thomas Carlyle (1795-1881) was a Scottish philosopher, social commentator, satirical writer, essayist, mathematician, and historian. Latter-Day Pamphlets is a series of essays published in 1850, in which he harshly denounces the political, social, and religious injustices and stupidities of the period. The target of many of the essays is the effect of greed on the culture. Carlyle also attacked the British parliament, democracy and the prison system. “The Present Time”, “Stump-Orator”, “Hudson’s Statue”, and “Parliaments” are among the most memorable of the essays.

The technical errors in the recording recording were distracting. It likely needs to be recorded again.

Not the complete work. Only the first half. Several audio issues make certain parts impossible to follow. Sounds like the audio is being fast-forwarded or rewound for 10 seconds or so, and then it just starts back up at later part. Would not recommend, look elsewhere.
