When his work happened to lead him through the cafeteria during lunchtime, tables of boys and girls would shout, “Hey, Muscles, show us your muscles!” He’d oblige us and weave among the tables flexing his arms, making crazy faces, and rattling off one-liners. Even the crabby, old lunch ladies had to laugh when Muscles put on a show. When he was in an especially good mood, he’d add the much-loved grand finale to his act. He’d pop out his dentures, hold them between fingers and thumb, and with his lips wrapped in over his empty gums, do a ventriloquist routine trying his damnedest not to move his jaw.
