Marlie Kane needs salvation. Not just for herself but for her three brothers, two of whom can’t stay sober long enough to pay rent in Boston. When their landlord tells Marlie that her only way to make money is to sell her body, she’s praying for a miracle and willing to try anything to get away.

Graham Evans is the cooper and carpenter of the town of Gilgamesh in Lazarus County. After losing his wife to diphtheria, he came to New Mexico to forget his past. He’d long since given up on love but is surprised by the happiness his friend Nate has found with his mail-order bride. Ready to throw the dice, he puts out a matrimonial ad himself.

Graham is hardly prepared for Marlie’s three brothers to show up in Lazarus County with her. The whole town is shocked by the arrival of other outsiders, who think that the family owes them something. Their plans to take it out of Marlie’s flesh lead to a confrontation and a decision by Graham that changes his life forever.

Amber Seraph is proud to present her second story of the town of Gilgamesh in Lazarus County. It’s a place she’ll keep visiting and hopes you will, too.

Loved the characters! Loved the discription of city life and of the west. Wow what a way of life back then... I have to remember there were no cell phones or computers. They had to wait for the mail

This is a good historical romance story. I liked Marlie but I didn't like her brothers starting out. I liked how everything came together. Charlie Ongel did a good job narrating this book.

*****Spoiler Alert*****

Lazarus County Mail Order Brides, Part Two: Western Redemption: A Clean Western Historical Romance by Amber Seraph. Dual POV. Solo narration. Book 2 of 4 in the Lazarus County Mail Order Brides series. Listed as a 1 hour 41 minutes; I listened at speed 2.50 for 40 minutes. I enjoyed the narrator Charley Ongel's pace and clear voice, I didn't like her Irish accent, and there were a few mistakes (doubled dialogue and multiple pronunciations of several names) that needed better editing. I'm not certain if she didn't remember the names as she pronounced them or if the author spelled them different ways (Evie/Elvie, Sillito/Stillito, King/Kean/Kane). Rated PG for threats of violence and physical intimidation from a baliff/debt collector. Content warnings: death by diphtheria; hidden identity; and a debt owed.

Maria and her brothers run from a collector with evil intent to New Mexico after Maria answered Graham's mail order bride ad. Graham decided to put an ad out for a mail order bride after Nate was successful with it. Graham and the town protected Maria even though she and her brothers lied about their true identities. Graham and Maria are married by the final page. Character update from book one: Nate and Ellen are expecting a baby. JP

0.5 out of 5 on my spice scale.
