I'm reviewing the chapters about basic phrases (I skipped social media chapters).

This book has interesting examples and clear pronunciation of each word, but it's a shame that they don't explain the grammar, not even basic things.

For example, they say that anohito means that person, but they don't care to say that ano=that and hito=person. Why!?

So it's curious that this book explains basic sentences but at the same time you need to have some basic knowledge to make the most of them and really learn Japanese.

For me it's useful because it gives me sample sentences, so I can listen to the grammar I know in real examples, together with some new vocabulary that I didn't know.

This book could have been excellent, if they just explained bits of grammar when presenting the sentences. For example, say that 人 = person, and that この、その、あの = this, that (1), that (2), so あの人= that(2) person.

that(1) is used when the object is far from the speaker but close to the listener

that(2) is used even the object is far both from the speaker and the listener

Useful examples but no grammar
